Discovering Triathlon Coaching as a Mum
Jo first discovered Ali and Annie at one of our Beginner Triathlon Skills Days, a welcoming, inclusive session designed to help total beginners build confidence across swim, bike and run.
“Back in 2015, my daughter had just started school, and another mum mentioned that lots of the parents did the Blenheim Triathlon to raise funds for a school charity,” Jo explains.
“I’d always been sporty as a child and through university, but by my 30s, life with three small kids had taken over. The Blenheim Triathlon felt like a challenge I could manage – something exciting but achievable.”
She signed up for the super sprint distance and completed it – just about! But that event lit a fire, and she was instantly hooked.
From Casual Training to Big Goals
Over the next few years, Jo dabbled in longer distances, gradually building up to Olympic and half Ironman triathlons.
“I was doing all of my training on a wing and a prayer – just making it up as I went along,” she admits.“I knew I could be doing more, but I wasn’t sure what ‘more’ looked like.”
That all changed when she decided to commit to Ironman training – a long-held dream that finally felt within reach. She knew she needed expert support, and that’s when she joined our monthly triathlon coaching programme.
